Propagation Album

New growth is carefully selected and cuttings taken for propagation.

Rose cuttings are brought to the barn,
kept cool and moist while being processed.

The cuttings are processed here.

The lower leaves are removed first.

The stems dipped into a rooting hormone to promote growth.

The stems are then stuck into a growing medium.

Trays of cuttings are placed in the greenhouse with high humidity and bottom heat while they root. The new greenhouse has a heated cement floor and plants are stuck directly into the growing medium.

Rooted cuttings are pulled to be planted.

During the growing season the green houses are prepared for replanting as soon as they are available.
The fields are prepared and the rooted cuttings planted in beds.

The planted cuttings are kept moist with irrigation, (sprinklers on the right).

Prior to being sold many plants are potted to make transplanting easier.
