Scab-free Apple Varieties
Apple scab is the number one cause of damaged fruit in the north-east. Spores spread this fungal disease during warm, moist weather. The leaves and fruit become covered with sooty patches or black spots that render the fruit unsaleable and can reduce the vigour of the tree substantially. These new varieties will eliminate the need for scab protection in an orchard, saving time and expense. They are ideal for the home grower as they are far more trouble-free and can produce good quality fruit without chemical sprays.
