Kiwi

Arctic Kiwi Actinidia kolomikta Zone 3 10m+ The males and some females produce leaves with white and pink variegation during flowering that persists. Often called the Tri-Color Kiwi, it can form a large vine or can be pruned in a similar manner to grapes. The fruit is oval and the size of a large grape. Flavor is very similar to the fuzzy kiwis, perhaps sweeter. Begins to produce after 2 years. A male is required. One male can pollinate at least 9 females.

Hardy Kiwi Actinidia arguta Zone 3 10m+ An extremely vigorous vine with shiny large heart shaped leaves. Fruit is round and squat and slightly larger than the Arctic Kiwi. Begins to produce in 6 yrs. Note: Kiwi plants are only available potted? We can bare root them for shipping but we will have to charge the potted price.

Currants

	Red Lake Currant Ribes sativum 'Red Lake' Zone 2 1m The finest variety of red currant, producing large bright red fruit in clusters. Superb for jellies, syrups, etc. Plants are self fruitful.
	Black Currant Ribes nigrum. Zone 2 1.25m Dark black fruits are produced in clusters. Favorite for jams and baking. Black currants need two different varieties for pollination. Both our selections, (Consort & Titania), are completely resistant to pine blister rust, a disease that uses currants and gooseberries as alternate hosts when not attacking white pine.

Elderberries

Sambucus canadensis Zone 3 3-4m A vigorous shrub with large compound leaves. The ivory flowers are arranged in flat umbels that can be dipped in batter and fried. The clusters of purple-black fruit are used in jams, syrups, wine, baking and increasingly in nutraceuticals, as they has high levels of vitamins and anti-oxidants. Elderberries need pollination from a different variety to set fruit.

Grapes

What could be more romantic, or tasty, than arbors wreathed in vines hanging with clusters of grapes.

Now even those living in the colder regions can experience that 'Mediterranean' feel with these cold hardy, short season varieties.

Please note those that are self-pollinating and those that need a self-pollinating variety as a pollinator

	Beta (Zone 3) All the flavor and color of 'Concord' but with superior hardiness and earlier ripening. The grandfather of all hardy grapes. The best for jams and jellies. This variety ripens at our site in early October. Disease resistant and self-pollinating.
	Bluebell (Zone 3b) One of the finest dessert grapes we carry. Large berries are sweet and flavorful and in the 'Concord' style. Also makes great juice. Disease resistant and self-pollinating
	Frontenac (Zone 3b) At last a high quality wine grape for the north. Developed at the University of Minnesota, it produces a deep red wine of depth and character. Disease resistant and self-pollinating.
	Germanica (Zone 3) Very similar to 'Beta' but even earlier. If your season is very short try this deep purple grape. Good for dessert, jams, jellies and juices. Disease resistant and self-pollinating.
	Kandiyohi (Zone 3) Immense blue berries, ripening just after 'Beta'. These giants will attract attention. They are good for dessert, jams and jellies. Disease resistant and self-pollinating.
	Kay Gray (Zone 3) Very hardy white wine grape borne in small tight clusters. Harvest before full maturity for best results and use minimal racking to avoid oxidation. Disease resistant and self-pollinating.
	Marechal Foch (Zone 4) Perhaps the hardiest high quality European wine grape. Small berries are dark purple. A varietal grape used in many Maritime vineyards.
	Minnesota 78 (Zone 3) A superb reddish-blue grape that is the sweetest we carry. Excellent for dessert and makes a good wine. Disease resistant. Needs a pollinator.
	Prairie Star (Zone 3b) A sweet white grape coming in long clusters with good disease resistance. It makes a wine with excellent body and good sugar/acid balance. Self-pollinating.
	St. Pepin (Zone 3b) A very sweet grape that makes a wine with excellent body and good sugar/acid balance. A treat right off the vine or as fresh juice. Bred by Elmer Swenson of Wisconsin. Needs a pollinator.
	Swenson Red (Zone 4b) A superb dessert grape that comes on dumbbell shaped clusters. Thin skin and meaty non-lubrusca flesh. Ripens after 'Beta' Self-pollinating.
	Valiant (Zone 2b) The hardiest cultivated grape, developed in South Dakota. Dark purple-black berries in a very tight cluster. A mild flavored eating grape and the absolute best for juice! Self-pollinating.
	Native Grape (Zone 2b) This is our native River Grape (Vitis riparia). Small blue berries. Good for naturalizing and for jelly.

Blueberries

Sweet and succulent and an excellent source of healthful anti-oxidants. Their bright red fall color is also outstanding. Blueberries need a pollinator of the same type.

	Bluecrop (Zone 4) Highbush, growing gradually to 2m The finest highbush blueberry for flavor. Large berries. Use 'Patriot' as pollinator.
