(4) - Laffay, France, 1840 (R. gallica hybrid) A compact shrub growing to perhaps 1.5m. (4ft). Stems are nearly thornless and the plant is quite hardy. Flowers are very double to quartered and are a deep rich true purple. Heavy, sweet scent. Flowers from late spring to mid-summer. (FR-4)
