This Canadian introduction has very large florets of outstanding deep purple and deep green heart shaped foliage. Excellent for informal hedging or screening. If you wish to prune a lilac do so just after bloom. Removing spent blooms before seed is produced will help produce good flowering the following year. Tolerant of most soils but prefers a moist well drained site. Does not grow well in wet soil. Grow in full sun. In shade you will have few flowers. It is important to lime acidic soils, as lilacs do best in a neutral soil (pH 6-7)
