Corn Hill Nursery Beta Grape

Beta Grape

$29.00
CONTACT FOR AVAILABILITY

Zone 3 - Vitis labrusca × Vitis riparia

Jam & Jelly, Fresh Eating, Juice, Wine

Beta offers all the flavour and colour of 'Concord' but with superior hardiness and earlier ripening. Known as the grandfather of all hardy grapes, this variety is ideal for jams, jellies, fresh eating, juice, and even wine. Ripening at our site in early October, it boasts small, dark blue-black berries with a sweet, tangy flavour. A cross between Concord and the native river grape Vitis riparia (selection named Carver), it was developed by Louis Suelter in Minnesota in the late 19th century. Highly disease-resistant, the vigorous vines thrive in well-drained soil with a pH of 6–7, offering reliable harvests in northern climates.
