Prefers well drained ground with slightly acidic soil (ph 5-6). If the soil is neutral or alkaline, sulfur or iron sulfate can be added to acidify the soil. This can help produce a bluer cast to the needles, but the genetics of the seedling cannot be changed, so a green or blue-green specimen will remain that colour. Choose select blues for best colour.
