Corn Hill Nursery Cox's Orange Pippin Apple

Cox's Orange Pippin Apple

$39.00
CONTACT FOR AVAILABILITY

Zone 4 - England. 1850 - Standard rootstock

Dessert, cooking
Late season

Parentage:
Cox’s Orange is green, shaded with orange to soft brick red, and sometimes mottled with russet. The fruit can have a warty appearance. The flesh is fine grained, juicy, subacid, and richly aromatic. It’s complex flavour has been described much like a sommelier would with wine; hints of nuts, spice, pear, mango, melon, peach, and orange.

This apple prefers a maritime climate, one that is not overly damp, adoring cool temperatures and disliking high heat. An irregular producer, moderately vigorous. This cultivar benefits from careful pruning. Cox’s Orange Pippin is prone to canker, and cold temperatures in Northern areas can cause winter injury. Zone 4 is pushing the limits of this apple.
