Heritage apple noted as Thomas Jefferson’s favourite apple. It is medium to large with yellow skin that becomes nearly covered in dark red with underlying striping. Considered an excellent eating apple. Flesh is crisp, juicy, aromatic and tender. Stores well. Not terribly productive. Is prone to scab and fireblight.
