Frontenac is a cold-hardy red wine grape renowned for its resilience and intense flavour profile. The vines are exceptionally vigorous and disease-resistant, producing medium-sized clusters of dark blue-black berries with high sugar content and balanced acidity. Frontenac grapes are celebrated for their complex notes of cherry, blackberry, and plum, with hints of spice, making them an excellent choice for crafting robust red wines or fortified dessert wines. Developed by the University of Minnesota, this grape thrives in northern climates, offering reliable productivity even in challenging conditions. Best grown in well-drained soil with a pH of 6–7.
