Zone 2 - 15m / 50ft - Betula papifera

Native tree with peeling white bark. Always popular. Note that young paper birch have brown bark that will turn white as it ages. Also note that it is normal for lower branches to die as the tree gains height. Prune these off for aesthetics. Old specimens were used by the indigenous population to create birch bark canoes.
