Not the prettiest name, but Scabrosa is a delight with its immense single mauve coloured blooms. The bush will fill a sizeable area given the right space. It is vigorous, and dense with lush, deep green foliage making it an excellent choice for tall hedging. In fall, the leaves become imbued with yellow, red, and golden hues. Large orange-red hips are spread throughout the foliage, a boon to the makers of rose hip tea and jam. We find it to be one of those most attractive rose bushes at the end of the season.
