Late season

An apple that is very, very close to home. Found by Charlie Stultz in Havelock, New Brunswick, just over the hill from our nursery, Tangowine is one of the darkest coloured apples. It has a solid, deep burgundy skin that comes with a bluish bloom and often has a russet-coloured suture line extending from the stem cavity to the basin. Its flesh is white streaked with red flecks that work their way in from the skin. A very hardy tree that has remained local to New Brunswick, but has gradually spread from here and is well worth seeking out. Very scab resistant.
